Asplenium aethiopicum

‘African Spleenwort’. This variety of a variable fern of Highland Africa has rather glossy upper surfaces to the lobed pinnate fronds, while the lower surfaces are matt-textured and obliquely lined with typical spleenwort sori. The underside and stem are quite densely covered with ginger hairs – especially pretty when the croziers are unrolling. Needs winter protection.
