Description
Coming from New Zealand, where it is known as the `Crown Fern’. It has a magnificent shutlecock of arching fronds that are dark green on the upper surface but much paler on the underside (hence the `discolour’). In time it will produce a trunk to a height of about 40 cms. It is hardy in mayplaces in the UK, though it may be deciduous – I’m looking hopefully at mine to come back up again this year after all the cold temperatures we’ve had. The photo attached shows one that is about three years old, but last year it had already started to trunk up.
